Better to Have Loved

Wow. I haven't posted in a while. Anyway, I used to think that the entire album was my favorite because, in some way or another, I could relate to each song. This still stands true, however, Better to have Loved is giving me the most comfort right now. My boyfriend and I just broke up on Sunday and I'm having an incredibly hard time with it. It's completely odd; I've never felt this way about anyone before and he said the same. Now he's "confused", "lost", etc...he's going through a lot right now and so he feels like the "spark" is gone. He says he still cares about me and still likes me but that doesn't make the reality that Im not his any less painful. This song, as much as it can right now, definitely puts some things in perspective. We're still friends and we're still going to a Brewer's game and Six Flags this weekend. I honestly think that the healing process wont really begin for me until I see him and I know that we'll still be in eachother's lives. He was just as upset as I was and was terrified, like I was, that I wasn't going to want to be in his life anymore. Completely untrue; if I can't have him as a boyfriend I'm content with having him as a friend and in my life. This all sounds rational to me and when I read it it sounds like I have everything worked out...but I still feel completely and utterly lost and stuck right now. I mean, we had plans..I thought we had a future...Oh this is completely unbelievable. Wow, sorry I decided to go on this rant, all I really wanted to say was thank you Idina for this song, it gives me a little more hope that it wont feel like this always. Thank you.

i can empathize

That is how I felt when my now ex bf and I broke up. I, too, thank Idina for this song. It has helped me sooo much to heal and such. It brought me to my senses and gave me "closure".

My favorite is My Own Worst Enemy, but since it's not a choice, I'd have to pick Brave.

Tough Choice.

I've been asking myself this question since I bought the cd. In each of the songs there's one part that just gets me everytime--which means I'm usually belting it out. And so when "the part" comes on I think, "Yeah this is my favourite" only to have the next song come on and make me change my mind. Sign of a great album.

I would have to pick "Where Do I Begin" because that is one of the songs she sang live at the concert that I went to and she messed it up and she made it really funny! I love all of the songs it was really hard to pick!

I love the WHOLE THING!

AAAHHH I can't decide! I have to pick "Brave," although I like them all. I like Idina's music so much better than that of other artists who sing about unmeaningful stuff. Idina's lyrics are very moral and good influence.

Better to have loved

than never loved at all...

of those 5, i choose "Better to have loved", but, honestly, it's nos my favourite song in this album...

It's a very difficult choice, anyway... I think it's a great album, with no i'll-compose-this-to-fill-the-album songs...

I mean, every song has a "something" i like

My favourite... "My own worst enemy" :)
I like "I'll feel everithing" very much too...

And the entire album itself has made a way into my heart...

Love u, Idina!!

To be honest

I like all that are listed, but my favorites are "I Feel Everything", "Perfumes and Promises", and "Let Me Fall".

I do think "Gorgeous" or "Better To Have Loved" need to be the next singles though. They are really radio friendly and catchy. I think audiences will jump to them faster than "Brave".

Also with "Gorgeous" you have the remixes that will give you club play. "Better To Have Loved" has a rock feel to it so soft stations might give it play and that is a different audience. That with a more "action" video will help.

Thats my opinion anyways, not that it matters. Haha.

Lyric Stuck In Head, LOL

Ok, so I had a math quiz the other day and during the whole thing, I had the lyric, "I hear a voice inside my head, don't let me down", from Idina's fabulous song, Don't Let Me Down. So hopefully, I got a good grade on it thanks to our favorite "green girl"!!!!! Idina, you are my inspiration!!!

Forever is the song that Idina wrote entirely by herself...as of right this moment, after having listed to the entire album for the first time, it is my favorite. I love it so much; it's amazingly beautiful and touching.

But if I think too hard about it, I won't be able to choose a favorite...

So difficult to choose!

Of the available song choices, "Gorgeous" is definitely my favorite. On the album as a whole, though, hands-down my favorite track is the acoustic version of "I Stand." In my opinion, Idina's voice doesn't need to be synthesized or cleaned up -- she's got a natural gift, and I love nothing better than just listening to her belt it out like she did with this song.

Lyric-wise, the song that resonated with me the most was "My Own Worst Enemy." My first response after hearing that song was "Well, THAT screams Idina at the top of its lungs." The fact that she still has these self-doubts and insecurities even with the support of her friends, family, and fans is just so endearing, and easy to relate to. She's human, and I love that about her.

Runners-up are "I Feel Everything" (which reminds me starkly of "Straw Into Gold" and I have no idea why) and "Let Me Fall," which has more of a "Here" feel to it. But I thoroughly enjoyed the entire album, and have been listening to it constantly since I got it. :D

I Stand (Acoustic)

I, like everyone else, love the entire album. Right now I'm most impressed with the acoustic version of "I Stand." It just shows off her vocal abilities so well. Not everyone can pull off an acoustic version of song with the same emotion and intensity, but she does it very well.
