Defying Gravity

Chris Mann opened the show at 8pm and he sang a couple of songs and kept getting the audience excited by telling them that Idina was in the building. anyway, Idina came out at around 9 to lots of screaming and excitement. She wore jeans with holes on the knees and a red flowered top and high heels ( that found their way to the floor later in the show). She started with DLMD and she ROCKED IT! She then did HERE and she had us do the uhs with her. Heartbreaker was cool and she really rocked out to it. She went into WDIB and she told us about how she wrote the song when she and Taye had a fight. Devorah and Rise up gave me chills...especially when she chanted in Hebrew. She did a shortened version of the wedding days thing but it still worked and was funny. A highlight was when she was recalling songs from the eighties that she sang at weddings and she could not remember the words to Conga. The audience tried to help her figure out the line and in the process, she messed up again by singing a line from a Madonna song. Then some lady was shouting out a line from a Celine Dion song and Idina was like "you know I am not her right?" she then told the lady that if she was Celine, tickets would have cost more and the lady would have been sitting further back. Then she went into the rest of the songs as usual. Another highlight was her telling us about her particpaing in the Macys parade and practing her handwaves. She made fun of Palin's and Mcain's handwaves and said she was glad Mcain is not president. Get Up Stand up was another favorite part of the show for me. it was a lot of fun dancing a long with her. She did a little of TMOLM from RENT and then made a funny joke about dreamgirls when she mentioned her first ever broadway show. We all started cheering before she said the name of the show so she said her first show was the reginal production of Dreamgirls and then proceeded to sing And I am telling you I am not going comically. She finished with Defying Gravity.
It was an amazing show....I cannot wait till she comes back to CT, hopefully she comes up to Hartford or New Haven or anywhere up north next time.

Idina (if you happen to read this): great show...love ya!
